It’s on: the multidisciplinary expert committee on the architectural and urban integration of the REM de l’Est held its first meeting today, Friday, May 21, in the presence of all the members, and experts from CDPQ Infra and architecture firm Lemay. The purpose of this meeting was to bring all members up to speed on the reference project, announced in December 2020, and on the analyses carried out by CDPQ Infra to identify the corridors, the mode and the type of insertion of the REM de l’Est project.

The committee’s busy 2021 schedule will be dedicated to developing the guiding principles for the architectural framework of the future network and its urban integration along the entire route. One of the first steps will therefore be to discuss the environments crossed and the identity of the network, which is the foundation of these principles. As the discussions and the project design evolve, the architectural and design charter will also be developed and commented on by the committee. Note that the architectural and urban integration signature will first be presented to the public and then imposed in the request for proposals for the REM de l’Est.

“I was impressed by the energy, creativity and relevance of the questions put to CDPQ Infra and the stakeholders present by the committee members. We had frank, open and constructive discussions during this first meeting. I am convinced that we have a very solid committee that will allow us to draw on the best from each expertise to come up with a project that meets the communities’ expectations.”
